Pristimantis sp. nov. (radial iris)
These are from three locations, elevation ca. 150-950m, from vicinities around Jama (Reserva Jama Coaque), Pedernales (Cerro Pata de Pajaro) and La Concordia (Bosque Protector La Perla). Note: radial iris, large conical tubercles on eyelid, calcars. All three of these characters vary in distinctiveness. Two color patterns, dark and light, reflect day and nighttime colors, respectively; although some individuals are dark at night as well. Considerable variation in ventral colors are also shown, from heavily spotted/blotched to near immaculate. Just one individual exhibits yellow groin flash marks. Also included here are otherwise very similar frogs, but with a solid brown to copper iris. I suspect there are at least two species here, but there seems to be continuous variation in most characters. The general color pattern matches P. muricatus, but that should have smooth skin.
